Development of a downstream process and characterization of neuromodulatory active ingredient extracts from microalgae

The aim of the project is to obtain neuromodulatory, anti-inflammatory active substance complexes from extremophilic microalgae as a biogenic raw material source and to investigate their potential to protect the skin against negative environmental influences such as stress and heat. The focus is on bioactive peptides and/or peptide-rich active ingredient extracts that exhibit agonistic activities for CB receptors and antagonistic activities towards the pain receptor TRPV1 and exert positive effects on the skin condition and the inflammatory process in the skin via biochemical signaling pathways.
