Solar power from your own roof, a small wind turbine in the garden or even hydrogen for your own home? What sounds like a dream of the future has long been feasible in many cases. The Citizens' Energy Day on June 5, 2025 at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences on Campus Köthen will show what this can look like in practice. Under the motto "Power of the elements: Discover sun, wind & hydrogen!", the H2HUBSaxony-Anhalt inv ites you to learn more about the implementation of renewable energies in your own home from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. The event is aimed at people who are interested in renewable energies and want to know how they can use them in their own everyday lives - whether in a detached house, in the countryside or in a city apartment.
"We want to show that the energy transition is not just something for large companies," says Dr. Hartmut Lange, Project Manager at H2HUB Saxony-Anhalt. "There are many ways in which private individuals can make sensible use of solar energy, wind power or even hydrogen - often easier than you might think." Presentations will begin by explaining the latest developments in solar systems - from technology and output to funding opportunities. This will be followed by a presentation on what needs to be considered when using small wind turbines. Anyone interested in the topic of hydrogen will be given a practical insight into its use in the private sector. Particularly exciting: an experience report on the production and storage of hydrogen in your own household. At the end, the focus will be on heat pumps, with a look at technology, efficiency and the Building Energy Act.
The aim of the day is to encourage people to take action themselves. So if you are thinking of buying a solar system, modernizing your heating system or simply want to know how hydrogen works, you will get understandable first-hand information here - without the technical jargon. At the end of the event, there will be a Q&A session where individual concerns and ideas can be discussed.
The event will take place in the Audimax (lecture hall 02/027) in the Green Building (Building 2) on the Campus Köthen. Participation is free of charge. Registration is requested:

About H₂HUB
H₂HUB Saxony-Anhalt is a central platform for training and further education in the field of hydrogen technologies in Central Germany. It is operated jointly by Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, Merseburg University of Applied Sciences, Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg and the Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy Systems IWES.
