Doctoral Thesis with Flying Colors: Georgii Mikriukov Defends His Dissertation

On March 16, 2026, a dissertation defense took place at the Doctoral Center for Engineering and Information Technologies (IWIT) at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in Köthen. Georgii Mikriukov, a doctoral candidate at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, successfully defended his dissertation titled “Post-hoc Concept-based Explainable Artificial Intelligence Methods for Verification of Computer Vision Deep Neural Networks.”

Georgii Mikriukov’s dissertation focuses on the development of methods to explain and verify the decisions of deep neural networks in computer vision. This topic is of great importance, as the use of artificial intelligence is increasing across all fields and the transparency and trustworthiness of decisions made by machines are becoming increasingly relevant.

The successful defense of Georgii Mikriukov’s dissertation is an important milestone in his academic career and a testament to the high quality of research at the IWIT Doctoral Center. His advisors, Prof. Dr. Korinna Bade and Prof. Dr. Christian Hänig, supported him throughout this journey.
