Under the motto "Young, colorful and innovative", Anhalt University of Applied Sciences is presenting a diverse hands-on program at Saxony-Anhalt Day in Bernburg's Wachgasse from 5 to 7 June 2026. The creative workshop of the Department of Design will showcase the full range of design studies at Campus Dessau over three days.
Friday is dedicated to product design and sustainable design. Among other things, furniture prototypes from the research project "eDIY - educated Do It Yourself", which was developed as part of the New European Bauhaus (Building 10 - Dessau), will be presented. The focus is on modular, repairable and collaborative furniture concepts that show how sustainable design can develop practical solutions for the future.
At the weekend, the focus will shift to other facets of design studies. The program combines traditional craftsmanship with modern technology and makes design processes directly tangible. In an open workshop atmosphere, visitors can become active themselves and try out different techniques. On Saturday, for example, those interested can draw with tattoo machines equipped with special ink-pen attachments. The focus here is on precision and experimentation. Visitors can realize their own ideas or use special pre-prints. While visitors experiment, design students provide assistance and offer insights into their own artistic work.
A special highlight awaits the public on Sunday: under the title "Experience the blue world of cyanotype - painting with light", students from the Department of Design offer an introduction to a fascinating printing technique from the 19th century. Using simple materials and prepared cyanotype sheets, impressive blueprint images are created. The students will guide visitors through all the steps of the process, explaining the principle of sun exposure and the importance of the chemicals used. Visitors can bring their own motifs and take their individual cyanotype artworks home with them.
Ten creative workshops on the banks of the Saale
A total of ten creative workshops are waiting to be discovered in Wachgasse. They pick up on the various subject areas of Anhalt University of Applied Sciences and invite visitors to join in. How are new foods created? How is water turned into energy? How do landscape architects work? How can biotechnological processes be represented digitally? We will be exploring these and other questions on the banks of the Saale. We look forward to welcoming you on site.
