What will the future of crop production look like? What solutions are available for climate change, biodiversity loss, and sustainable food production? And how can young people become part of this development? Anhalt University of Applied Sciences will provide answers to these questions at the DLG Field Days, taking place from June 16 to 18, 2026, on the grounds of the International DLG Plant Production Center next to the Campus Bernburg. Under the theme “Crop Production Out of the Box,” the focus will be on new ideas, innovative technologies, and sustainable solutions for Agriculture of tomorrow.
Anhalt University of Applied Sciences will use the Field Days to demonstrate, through current research topics, just how diverse and relevant modern crop production is. Topics will include how to manage soil water sustainably, the opportunities offered by regional protein production through grain legumes, and how crop production can adapt to climate change. Innovative approaches such as agri-photovoltaics (Agri-PV+) for enhancing ecosystem services will also be presented. At the same time, digitalization becomes tangible: With modern sensor technology, agricultural drones, and the AI-powered tool “AgriChat,” developed at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, visitors will experience how technology is transforming crop production. Another focus is on biodiversity and climate adaptation. Native wild plants demonstrate how beneficial organisms can be promoted and agricultural systems made more resilient.
An educational station specifically for school students
On June 18, the spotlight is on the next generation: At various educational stations, they’ll have the chance to learn about degree programs in Agriculture, Ecotrophology, conservation, and landscape architecture, and to chat with students and instructors. Here, they can ask questions, explore new perspectives, and develop initial ideas for their own career paths.
