Experience the latest developments in medical technology in action, make contacts and perhaps find inspiration for one's own project work ... with this in mind, Master's students and young researchers from the department's Biomedical Engineering branch set off for the DMEA in Berlin together with their professor Marianne Maktabi.
This year's DMEA (Digital Medical Expertise & Applications) took place from April 21-23, under the motto “Connecting Digital Health.” The trade fair and conference are regarded as the central meeting place for the digital healthcare industry in Europe. Visitors are offered a structured overview of the latest developments in technologies, including concrete examples of their implementation in practice, as well as regulatory applications and innovations.
As the fair's patron and Federal Minister of Health Nina Warken noted in her keynote speech, "The DMEA shows what will shape our healthcare system in the coming years. The future of our healthcare and our healthcare system as a whole depends on how decisively we can put digital innovations into practice." In the healthcare sector in particular, the development and implementation of new technologies always involves the question of responsibility and ethics, which must be considered - for example, the use of robotics and AI in care, a topic that received particular attention from exhibitors and panels at this year's DMEA.
Of particular interest to our Master's students and researchers: in 2026, the DMEA once again focused on promoting innovation and young talents. Around 70 start-ups presented their solutions and ideas for the healthcare of tomorrow in the Startup & Innovation Area.
Perhaps some of our Master's students will soon take a leap and present their own ideas at the trade fair?
