Molecular Biology Laboratory

Department 1

Responsibility: Prof. Dr. Wilfried Rozhon

Tasks and fields of activity:

Development of alternative fertilization and phytosanitary strategies

  • RNA: Measuring the activity of candidate genes (RNA sequencing for gene maps and gene models)
  • DNA: Molecular markers (DNA fingerprinting, locus-specific markers, identification of bacteria/fungi/plant species, characterization of fungal communities, gene banks of root endophytes and symbionts, DNA sequencing and bioinformatics)

Technical equipment:

Sterile workstations, shaking incubators, tissue and cell disruption devices, automated DNA extraction, gel electrophoresis (IEF, 2D, PAA, agarose), automated gel documentation and analysis, conventional and real-time PCR, nanodrop and cuvette photometer, fluorometer, vacuum concentrator, microtiter plate readers
