Algae strain collection
Field of activity:
The main tasks are the cultivation of strains on slant agar, agar plates and in suspension culture and the provision of inocula for biotechnological applications. In addition, new algae strains are collected in natural habitats and then isolated and studied further. The Köthen strain collection currently comprises 95 algae strains from other strain collections and around 250 self-isolated new strains. These algae are aquatic, aeroterrestrial and some marine microalgae of different taxonomic families.

Sterile safety cabinets, light benches, shaking and rocking incubators, fully automated climate cabinets, high-resolution microscopes, autoclaves
