Interregional Innovation Forum (iRIF) 2025

The Interregional Innovation Forum (iRIF) 2025 continued the tradition of bringing together leading scientists, industry representatives and government officials from Germany, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan. The forum focused on renewable energies, energy efficiency, and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) applications. Building on the success of the 2022, 2023, and 2024 editions, the 2025 event expanded the scope of interregional cooperation, with conferences, workshops, industrial site visits, and cultural programs in Tashkent, Samarkand, and Almaty.

Program and Main Events

Tashkent (September 9 – 11, 2025)
 • September 9 – Opening conference at Turin Polytechnic University. Keynotes and lectures covered secure IIoT systems, smart grids, and LPWAN technologies. Site tour of the university and conference banquet.
 • September 10 – Conference day at O‘zenergoinspeksiya with speeches from Uzbek and German officials. Topics included renewable energy strategies, IIoT for energy islands, smart energy solutions, and energy efficiency in Uzbekistan. Evening networking dinner.
 • September 11 – Industrial site visits: O’zelektroapparat-Electroshield, ART Solar (first Uzbek solar panel producer), O’zbekTelecom. Cultural program in the evening.

Samarkand (September 12 – 13, 2025)
 • September 12 – Excursion to the Free Economic Zone Samarkand with visits to resident companies. Official session with the Governor of Samarkand. Visit to the Samarkand International University of Technology (SIUT) including Smart Energy & IIoT laboratories.
 • September 13 – Cultural program exploring the ancient city: Registan, Gur-e-Amir Mausoleum, Bibi-Khanym Mosque, Shah-i-Zinda. Return to Tashkent in the evening.

Almaty (September 15 – 18, 2025)
 • September 15 – Opening conference at Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications (AUPET). Keynotes from Kazakh ministers, the German Consulate, and academic leaders. Focus on academia–industry collaboration, smart metering, and IIoT.
 • September 16 – Industry panels with participation of AHK, GIZ, Bosch, Knauf, and regional partners. Focus on energy efficiency, digitalization, and networking.
 • September 17 – Industrial field trips: power plants, KazTelecom facilities, and the Free Economic Zone Almaty.
 • September 18 – Specialized visit to Shelek Wind Farm. Wrap-up session and networking in the afternoon.
