The "Drug Biochemistry" working group researches the use of small molecules and natural substances, including monoclonal antibodies, for the treatment of various diseases. The focus is on inhibitors of enzymes and the degradation of misfolded proteins as well as pathomechanisms of neurodegenerative and inflammatory diseases. The various projects are carried out in close cooperation with the Center for Natural Product-Based Therapeutics (ZNT) at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences and the Fraunhofer IZI-MWT in Halle, which is headed by Prof. Schilling.
