On the occasion of International University Day on October 7, 2026, Anhalt University of Applied Sciences awarded the 2026 DAAD Prize to Adea Paci. The recipient, who is originally from Kosovo, is studying International Business at the Campus Bernburg. With this award, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) honors international students at German universities who have demonstrated outstanding coursework as well as exceptional social or intercultural engagement. The award comes with a cash prize of 1,000 euros.

Adea Paci came to Germany from Kosovo four years ago and initially studied in Reutlingen before transferring to Anhalt University of Applied Sciences. Her commitment grew out of her own experience of having to find her way in a new country and at a new university: Together with fellow students, she supports new students with questions about their studies, organizational matters, and issues such as visas and the immigration office. Since late 2025, she has also been working as a student mentor for the IBS program, guiding first-semester students through their first weeks at the university.

Professor Christiane Naumann, who nominated Adea Paci for the award, describes her as a key pillar in building the IBS community: “She is always approachable when it comes to her fellow students’ concerns and stands up for them. She is proactive and takes the needs of various interest groups into account.”" Adea Paci is also outstanding academically: “She caught my attention right from the first lecture because she contributes, shares ideas, and inspires others. She is a strong team player in group projects.” In addition, she completed her coursework within the normal program length. Naumann sees great potential for her professional development.

Adea Paci was delighted when she learned of the nomination. “I realized: What I do is valued. That means a great deal to me.” The award gives her the confidence that she is on the right track.

Adea Paci will be completing a lab in project management until early next year. Afterward, she plans to write her bachelor’s thesis and pursue a master’s degree. Her goal is to work in Germany and remain connected to the university as an alumna in the future.

Anhalt University of Applied Sciences extends its warmest congratulations to Adea Paci on this award.
