The traditional Federweißer tasting will be held at the "Waladala" training and experimental vineyard at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences before the actual grape harvest. Next Wednesday, September 17, 2025, wine lovers are cordially invited to taste the first Federweißer of 2025 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm.
After only a short fermentation period, visitors can enjoy the sweet and slightly sparkling drink fresh from the vine. "In contrast to last year, the grapes have developed excellently. Only the Elbling and Müller-Thurgau grapes suffered repeated losses due to disease. We will reach around 90 Oechsle - a measure of the natural sugar content and therefore the quality of the grapes - for some varieties in a few days, so that the Federweisser will be ready to serve on time," explains Professor Dieter Orzessek, who looks after the vineyard.
On this afternoon, there will be a choice of one Federroter made from Frühburgunder and two Federweißers made from Müller-Thurgau and Grauburgunder. Small hearty dishes will be served to accompany the wines. To round off the taste, there will be a wine spritzer with the auspicious name "Herbstblüte" and a delicious peppermint liqueur as a precaution against autumn colds.
The afternoon can be spent in convivial company with wine, a little music and a refreshing snack. Visitors can explore the young vineyard, learn about the work on the vines and find out more about the future prospects of the project.
