How is a video game actually made? Why do plants need nitrogen? And how much chemistry is in our food? Students who are curious about science and technology during the fall break can come to Anhalt University of Applied Sciences to conduct experiments, bring their own ideas to life, and get a taste of college life. There are two free vacation programs to choose from: the four-day 15th Köthen Game Camp starting October 19, 2026, or the three-day discovery journey “On the Trail of the Elements” starting October 20, 2026.
Bring Your Own Game Ideas to Life
From October 19 to 22, 2026, the 15th Köthen Game Camp will focus entirely on computer science and game development. Teens between the ages of 14 and 17 can bring their own game ideas to life and learn what goes into creating a digital game.
No prior knowledge is required. Instead, curiosity, creativity, a love of experimentation, and an interest in computer science are what’s needed. Female students in particular are expressly invited to participate.
The camp begins on October 19 at 10 a.m. Participation is free of charge. Since the content builds on previous sessions, it is not possible to attend on individual days.

Tracking the Elements
From October 20 to 22, 2026, Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, in collaboration with SKW Stickstoffwerke Piesteritz GmbH and ABI LAB / Forum Rathenau e. V., invites you to a fall break journey through the world of chemistry.
At three out-of-school learning locations, students in 8th grade and above can conduct their own experiments and experience how chemistry shapes our everyday lives:
- October 20, 10 a.m.–2 p.m., Lutherstadt Wittenberg: At the futurea Science Center, the focus is on the nitrogen cycle and the importance of nitrogen for life, Agriculture, and industry. A tour of the SKW Stickstoffwerke Piesteritz facility rounds out the day.
- October 21, 10 a.m.–3 p.m., Campus Bernburg: Students will make their own bread, cream cheese, and pizza and scientifically analyze them. Carbohydrates, proteins, and—of course—flavor will be put to the test.
- October 22, 10 a.m.–1 p.m., Bitterfeld-Wolfen: At the ABI LAB, participants will conduct their own experiments and discover how carbon can be used as a resource in natural and technical cycles.
The three days can be booked individually or as a complete vacation program. Participation is free of charge. The registration deadline is October 14, 2026.
