Colorful, lively and traditional: On Saturday, August 30, 2025, the Historic Harvest Festival will take place on the estate of the DLG International Crop Production Center in Bernburg-Strenzfeld. The festival will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the traditional harvest parade, which will showcase the fascinating development of Agriculture. Visitors can expect a colorful program full of music, dancing and exciting highlights all about Agriculture. The festival, which is taking place for the 29th time this year, is organized by the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences and the Saxony-Anhalt State Institute for Agriculture and Horticulture.
A first highlight is the harvest parade, which shows the grain harvest from the scythe to the most modern combine harvester. Even ministers take part as tractor drivers. They are accompanied by big and small beekeepers, the shepherdess from near the university, falconers and hunters and many others. The tractor parade with over 70 historic vehicles and tractors will be expertly moderated and commented on.
Life on the farm
How animals live on a farm, how much milk a cow gives and what a chicken eats will be explained by the owners of cattle, sheep, rabbits or birds, who have brought some of their animals with them and will talk about life on their farm.
Competing and playing
Those who prefer a more leisurely pace can stroll past meadows and fields to the regional championships in old-school ploughing. More than 20 companies, clubs, schools and kindergartens compete against each other in the straw figure and scarecrow competition with figures they have made themselves. Younger guests also get their money's worth: whether on the straw playground, trampolining, pony rides in the low ropes course or at fairytale performances, there is plenty to try out.
The Historical Harvest Festival starts at 10:00 and ends at around 18:00. Admission is 8 euros and children up to the age of 10 are admitted free of charge. The organizers recommend that Bernburg residents in particular leave their cars at home and travel to Strenzfeld by bike or bus. Regional delicacies and garden delights
The large farmers' market with 100 exhibitors offers a wide range of regional products. Fresh delicacies such as cheese, ham and other regional specialties are on offer here. These include perennials, shrubs, flower bulbs, herbs and a variety of wooden, wicker and decorative accessories.
