Licenses available for online LaTeX editor "Overleaf"

Overleaf is a collaborative, cloud-based LaTeX editor used for writing, editing and publishing scientific documents.
Anhalt University of Applied Sciences offers a limited number of licenses for Overleaf and LaTeX exclusively for employees. These allow access to the premium functions of Overleaf and LaTeX. LaTeX is considered the standard for publishing scientific manuscripts in many journals and publishers and was specially developed for the needs and requirements of scientists for editing scientific texts.

Advantages:

  • Automatic versioning: Overleaf always provides the latest version of LaTeX.
  • (Real-time) collaboration: LaTeX documents can be shared with other people for joint editing. The editor offers real-time compilation and preview. All changes are synchronized in real time.
  • Simple and flexible use: Employees can use the web-based LaTeX editor in their browser, regardless of their operating system. Projects can be accessed via any device connected to the Internet.
  • LaTeX templates: A variety of LaTeX templates are available for different document types, providing comprehensive formatting and project structure to facilitate the creation of documents.

  • Ability to create complex documents with many figures, tables and graphics

Data protection and registration information

Secret, sensitive or personal data must not be stored in Overleaf, especially those covered by Art. 9 GDPR.

LaTeX is an open source software for the TeX typesetting system, which is the standard for scientific text typesetting in the natural sciences and engineering.

  • Automatic reference management: LaTeX offers mechanisms for the automatic creation and administration of directories and cross-references.
