Dr. Oksana Vasylenko is taking over the management of the Saxony-Anhalt Preparatory College (Landesstudienkolleg) in Köthen at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences. The education expert, who has been working at the university since 2019, brings with her many years of experience in international higher education and project coordination. She will be responsible for the linguistic, professional and personal preparation of international applicants and will drive forward the further development of the preparatory college in a targeted manner.

"I'm really looking forward to this task," says Dr. Vasylenko. "The Studienkolleg is a place where young people from all over the world start their academic journey in Germany. Together with my team, I want to ensure that they are not only prepared academically, but also feel welcome and integrated here."

Dr. Vasylenko already worked closely with Anhalt University of Applied Sciences during her time as Dean of Academic Affairs at the University in Odessa, Ukraine. She was significantly involved in the development and implementation of double degree programs, for example in the field of "Communication and Embedded Systems". Since 2019, she has been involved in international projects as a research assistant at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, including digital teaching under wartime conditions and further training for university teachers from more than 120 universities in Ukraine.

The Preparatory College (Landesstudienkolleg) Köthen prepares over 300 international students from more than 25 nations each year to study at German universities. Specialist courses and intensive language courses are offered. Not only language of instruction and specialist knowledge are taught, but also intercultural competence and personal orientation. "Language of instruction, specialist knowledge and personal development go hand in hand here. Our students come from very different backgrounds. We want to give them security, structure and the feeling that someone believes in them," says Vasylenko. In the future, the Studienkolleg will develop into an even more closely networked international competence center: a place that combines education, encounters and future opportunities.
