How do health care and nursing need to change for the future? What do statistics really reveal? And how do artificial intelligence and drones help in Agriculture? The Anhalt University of Applied Sciences’ Senior College invites you once again in the 2026–27 academic year to discover new things, engage in conversation, and get a taste of university life. The event series begins on October 14, 2026, at 4:15 p.m. in Köthen.
Jörg Heinrich will kick off the series with a look at the future of the health and long-term care sector. Using examples such as electronic health records, networked diagnostics, and new forms of continuing education, he will illustrate what changes are necessary and how the future of the sector can be actively shaped.
Through June 2027, the series will feature a diverse range of insights into science, technology, health, ethics, art, and media. Topics will range from the future of the health and care sector to modern animal ethics, Architecture, the critical analysis of statistics, and gut health. Art enthusiasts can look forward to a personal encounter with Köthen-based artist Werner Georges. In the spring, the focus will also be on artificial intelligence and drones in Agriculture, as well as on how modern technology contributes to flight safety. The academic year will conclude with a group trip to the MDR regional broadcasting center in Magdeburg. During a studio tour, participants will experience how television and radio programs are produced and get a behind-the-scenes look at Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk.
The Köthen Senior College’s event series, which has been popular for many years, presents current scientific topics in an accessible and relatable way. It is particularly appreciated for not only imparting new knowledge but also providing space for questions, personal experiences, and new perspectives.
No prior knowledge is required for the Senior College. All lectures will take place in the Audimax (Room 027) in the Grünes Gebäude (Building 02 - Köthen) at Bernburger Straße 55. The events begin at 4:15 p.m. each day. Participation is free of charge.
The Senior College takes place at all three campus locations of Anhalt University of Applied Sciences. The program for Bernburg is already available online.
