From June 4 to 7, 2026, Anhalt University of Applied Sciences hosted KonGeoS - the conference of geodesy students in German-speaking countries. Around 200 participants from around 21 Student Representative Committees from all German-speaking countries, from Hamburg and Berlin to Graz and Vienna, came together at Campus Dessau to exchange ideas, network, explore the Bauhaus city and have a great time together.
KonGeoS takes place every semester at different university locations and is a central platform for student networking in geodesy and geoinformatics. The 2026 summer edition was planned, organized and carried out by several Surveying and Geoinformatics students.
The program included specialist and city excursions, a mapathon for a good cause, an exhibitor foyer, specialist lectures and numerous working groups in which cross-university topics relating to studying, teaching and recruiting young talent were dealt with. The excursions included the DB repair works, the Federal Environment Agency, the Saale Bridge, the BKG and the Bornum land readjustment procedure.
In addition to the specialist program, there was plenty of room for encounters and dialogue between the Student Representative Committees. In particular, there was a great deal of cultural exchange with several city excursions to important cultural and historical sites, such as the Bauhaus (Building 10 - Dessau) with the Masters' Houses and the Törten Estate, the town hall, the Hugo Junkers Technology Museum and the Wörlitz Garden Kingdom. The traditional wine hike was particularly well received, as was the bicycle tour, during which we cycled through the countryside and sights around Dessau. Our special thanks go to Prof. Dr. Jens Hartmann, who led the tour and enriched it with his knowledge.
Overall, it was a weekend that brought together young geodesists from all over the German-speaking world in Dessau and showed how important networking and exchange is, not only professionally but also culturally.
Many thanks to all helpers, supporters and sponsors, as well as the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, especially the staff on site for their support. And of course to all the participants who made the whole thing so incredible.
