Congratulations to Bastian Vorwerk on successfully defending his dissertation at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences!
In his presentation titled “Development and Practical Application of a Hybrid Transfer Model in Prototype Parts Logistics in the Automotive Industry,” Vorwerk explored how transfer processes between warehouse locations can be made more efficient. Using operations research and machine learning, he developed a hybrid model that optimizes proactive transfers in prototype parts logistics.
His research combines scientific depth with significant practical value—particularly for the automotive industry. Through close collaboration with Volkswagen, Vorwerk was able to apply and further develop his findings directly in an industrial setting.
The examination committee consisted of Prof. Dr. Dirk Sackmann (Chair), Prof. Dr. Fabian Behrendt (internal examiner), Prof. Dr. Tamás Bányai (external examiner), Prof. Dr. Sebastian Trojahn (advisor), Prof. Dr. Daniel Michelis (discussant), and Prof. Dr. Gunnar Mau (discussant).
