Dr. Katharina Holstein

Researcher in the DigiTwin4AgroDiv project: Digital twins of agricultural landscapes to preserve agrodiversity in Saxony-Anhalt.

Researcher on the sub-project promoting the transition to climate neutrality -- AP HSA9: Big data and artificial intelligence in photovoltaics, part of the Competence Network for Applied and Transfer-Oriented Research.

Research interests

  • Data analysis, data mining and machine learning
  • Digitalisation in agriculture and forestry (remote sensing, path and area planning, health status of crops and forests)
  • Collection and linking of (heterogeneous) data, in particular hyper- and multispectral imaging in combination with nutrient analyses, weather data, pest or disease infestation

Projects, bachelor and master theses

You can write a thesis with me and I'm also offering topics for Data Science projects. I am currently offering a final thesis in cooperation with deparment 1, Prof. Knauer, :

In the research projects KAT, MeineWaldKI and DigiTwin4AgroDiv, exciting questions repeatedly arise in the areas of tree (species) identification, crown thinning, health status and other forest characteristics (e.g. deadwood detection), as well as overarching research questions concerning the interaction of AgriPV systems and the preservation of biodiversity in agricultural and forest landscapes.
