Dr. Judith Dobler

Judith Marlen Dobler is a design practitioner and researcher. Since 2020 she has been design research coordinator and research associate at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in Dessau. From 2024–25, she was a visiting professor for Performative Design Research at the weißensee kunsthochschule Berlin. Since 2025 she has been associated member of the Cluster of Excellence »Matters of Activity. Image Space Material« at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
Her research interests include collaborative drawing as a medium for communication, designing as experiental knowledge, and design methods in post-disciplinary research. She has multiple qualifications as a cabinetmaker (apprenticeship certificate), communication designer (Diplom FH), design theorist (Master of Arts), and media scholar (Dr. phil.). She studied and worked in the Black Forest, Potsdam, Munich, Basle, London, and Rio de Janeiro. As a member of several design research associations (dgtf, DRS, cumulus) her engagement lies in academic equality, research ethics, and design justice.
