Your Master's Degree in Media Engineering
Your Master's degree in Media Engineering has a scope of three or four semesters depending in your previous knowledge and your bachelor's degree.
The admission requirement for the 4-semester version of the Master's degree program is a qualified Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Media Informatics, Digital Media, Media Technology or in comparable degree programs with a standard period of study of at least 6 semesters and 180 credit points.
If you have achieved 210 credit points in your Bachelor's degree, you can start your 3-semester version of the Master's degree program in the summer semester.
Your studies consist of modules with different focusses consisting of a mixture of theorie and practice. You can see the simplified structure of the study in the following presentation.

Alternatively – once accepted for the MME program students can delay their enrolment to one of the following semesters by including the admission letter and re-applying directly at the SSC (and not UniAssist anymore). In this case the application is only a formal process without deeper validation. This procedure applies when a late arrival turns out to be useless or problematic. This procedure is independent of the MME program students are accepted for (90 CP or 120 CP program) because MME semesters do not rely on each other and this procedure simply means delaying the start of the studies.

Applicants who earned their Bachelor's degree at an English-speaking university or study program do not require any additional language certificates apart from the official one issued by their University.

Admission/Rejection letters will be provided as soon as possible depending on the reviewing resources at our University. Therefore, we cannot state specific durations, however, we try to complete this process as quick as possible once we have received the formal acceptance/rejection notification from UniAssist.
The program is not accredited yet. Officially courses started in the winter term 2025 and within the accreditation process it is required to refer to several semesters of experience which is why the process it will start in the winter term 2026 and will be completed by the summer term 2027. This is a common procedure within the german education system and in turn we cannot provide accreditation confirmation in the context of visa processes yet. We hope that this document serves as a valid substitution and that the future accreditation can be submitted subsequently. From our perspective looking back at two semesters of international students enrolment we have not experienced any issues in this regard so far.
Once accepted and enrolled, students can arrive at any time during the first or even further ongoing semesters. The University does not set any deadline in terms arrival, however, students need to be aware that ongoing costs such as health insurance etc. must be paid from the first day of the semester onwards. While still being abroad students have the possibility to attend at least four courses in an online fashion enabling them to already participate within the program.
