Anhalt University of Applied Sciences is opening the poster exhibition "Rebels - Women Change the World" on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 12:00 noon in the University Library on Campus Bernburg. The exhibition portrays women from different eras in German-speaking countries on 28 posters.
Their stories tell of quiet resistance and loud rebellion, of courageous deeds and unusual decisions, of non-conformity and strength of will. Their lives encourage people to go their own way and not lose sight of their personal goals.
At the same time, the exhibition makes it clear that the path to true equality is a generational project. Despite legal progress, structural inequalities and traditional role models still need to be broken down.
"We show what women achieve. We promote, network and support. We break down barriers and create fair conditions," says Dr. Zümrüt Gülbay-Peischard, Professor of Law and Gender Equality Representative at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences. "We don't just talk about equality - we put it into practice."
The accompanying work by students - under the direction of Julia Schinköthe, Deputy Gender Equality Representative of Anhalt University of Applied Sciences and Gender Equality Representative of the Department of Computer Science and Languages - shows what this looks like in concrete terms.
Prof. Dr. Uta Seewald-Heeg, Vice-President for International Affairs and Gender Equality, will welcome the guests. This will be followed by a lecture entitled "Unbending. Courageous. Free. - Ukrainian women rebels". The matinee will be accompanied by music. After the official opening, visitors will also have the opportunity to take part in a guided tour of the University Library.
