The Department of Economics at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences' Campus Bernburg achieves excellent results in the current CHE University Ranking 2026/27. In both the subjects of Business Administration (BWL) and Business Law, Anhalt University of Applied Sciences is in the top group in the categories "Support at the beginning of studies" and "Extent of integration". This underlines the university's special commitment to a successful start to studies and the close connection between theory and practice.

With 12 out of a maximum of 16 points in the subject of Business Administration and 12 out of 14 points in the subject of Business Law, Anhalt University of Applied Sciences is in the top group for the indicator "Support at the beginning of studies". The support begins long before the actual start of studies: With the school campus, Anhalt University of Applied Sciences offers pupils the opportunity to get to know study options at an early stage and to make an informed decision for a course of study according to their interests. Before starting their studies, preparatory courses in mathematics, physics and chemistry ensure that all first-year students can start their studies with the necessary foundations.

"We want to provide our students with the best possible support right from the start," explains Dean Professor Andreas Donner: "Our concept starts while they are still at school and accompanies students throughout their studies." The Department of Economics' mentoring program is particularly valuable for first-year students: experienced students from higher semesters are on hand to offer advice and support to first-year students and make it easier for them to settle into their studies. This is supplemented by personal study advice, first-semester tutorials, individual advice on planning the course of study and semester-accompanying reregistration of learning success through interim tests and individual corrections. Virtual learning centers and first-year coordinators round off the comprehensive range of support services.

Anhalt University of Applied Sciences is also very successful in its dual study programs. With top rankings in the "extent of integration" indicator - 10 out of 12 points in the Bachelor of Business Administration and up to 11 out of 12 points in various master's degree programs - the excellent integration of study and practical phases is evident. In total, Anhalt University of Applied Sciences works with 200 cooperating companies in the region and beyond at its three campus locations. This close partnership enables dual students to apply their theoretical knowledge directly in practice.

"The dovetailing of university and practice partners is a key success factor of our dual degree programs," emphasizes the President of Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, Professor Jörg Bagdahn. "Our dual students are integrated into a company right from the start and put the knowledge they acquire during their studies directly into practice." As a result, they not only acquire a university degree, but also gain extensive professional experience and a vocational qualification.

The dual degree programs thus offer a particularly practical and attractively remunerated qualification with excellent career prospects. Practice partners are involved in steering and quality assurance committees, support from the companies is ensured through various formats and the course content is closely interlinked with the requirements of Economics. Model contracts and minimum contract standards also guarantee reliable framework conditions for all participants.
