Summer vacation time is discovery time! Under the motto "Just try it out", the Department of Computer Science and Languages at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences cordially invites all curious pupils from Year 8 upwards to the Summer Club. For six weeks - every Tuesday - exciting hands-on workshops around the world of computer science await. Whether creative 3D worlds, small programming adventures or first steps into machine learning: everyone can take part here - without any prior knowledge, but with lots of fun and real aha experiences.

Each vacation week has a different theme: right at the beginning, on July 1, everything at Campus Köthen revolves around 3D graphics. Using the Blender program, participants will learn how to create digital models - whether fantasy worlds or their own figures. In the second week, the Campus Dessau will continue with creative activities: Tim and Valeriia will show how to make your own stop-motion film from individual images - from the idea to the finished clip. Technology fans will get their money's worth in week three: the Micro:bit - a small minicomputer - is used for playful programming in Köthen. The first simple codes light up LED displays or trigger small reactions.

In week four, the participants delve into the exciting field of machine learning: What types of machine learning are there? They will be tested using small practical examples. They will continue on July 31 with the development of their own 2D game using Unity. Anyone who has always wanted to know how games are programmed will get a practical introduction here. At the end of the workshop series, things get really mobile: on August 5, participants program their own remote-controlled car, build a small test track - and send their self-developed vehicle into the race.

The free vacation offer is part of the Digital Learning Labs (DiLeLa) project, which introduces young people to the world of computer science in a fun and practical way. The workshops are supervised by dedicated instructors and students from Anhalt University of Applied Sciences. All offers are free of charge, registration at dilela@hs-anhalt.de is sufficient.
