The new term of office for Deans at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences began on March 1, 2026. In all seven departments, the newly elected Dean's Offices - consisting of Dean, Vice-Dean and Dean of Academic Affairs - have taken up their work and will shape the strategic and academic development of their departments in the coming years.
Every four years, the Department Executive Committees elect the members of the Dean's Offices from among the professors.
"The Deans bear great responsibility for their Departments. They shape studies and teaching, research and transfer and contribute the professional strengths of their departments to the strategic work of the university. I would like to thank all my colleagues for this commitment and wish them every success for their term of office," says Professor Jörg Bagdahn, President of Anhalt University of Applied Sciences.
Together with the Vice-Dean and the Dean of Academic Affairs, the Dean forms the Dean's Office of a Department. While the Vice-Dean acts as a direct representative and is often responsible for specific areas of responsibility, the Dean of Academic Affairs is responsible in particular for the organization and quality of teaching. Together with the staff in Planning, Organization and Administration, the Dean's Office is responsible for the day-to-day business of the Department and shapes its strategic development.
