Standards
Standards are generally recognized rules, guidelines or standards that apply in various areas of life. They serve to ensure uniform behavior, processes or results and can be applied in many fields such as technology, business, society, law or the environment.
For general research, we recommend the freely accessible DIN Media database. The most important institution in the field of standards is the German Institute for Standardization (DIN).
Anhalt University of Applied Sciences provides all university members with campus-wide access to the Nautos and VDE Standards Library databases. Both databases offer access to extensive collections of standards and can be accessed via the DBIS database system.
Individual standards and technical regulations can be requested from the library team. We provide requested standards in the form of a copy or as a Nextcloud link for digital viewing.
Various standards in the library's collection can be searched via our online catalog (OPAC). An overview can be viewed here.
The Nautos database is available for researching national, international and European standards, VDI guidelines and other technical rules. Nautos provides full-text access to current DIN standards, VDI guidelines and current ISO standards. These can be retrieved and saved as digital full texts.
For research in NautosThe VDE Standards Library provides access to a comprehensive collection of the rules and regulations of the German Electrical Engineering Association (VDE) with full-text access to over 4,000 valid VDE regulations. Printing and saving the content is not permitted due to license restrictions. No full texts are available for withdrawn DIN standards, only references.

Patents are industrial property rights granted by the state. They give the owner the exclusive right to use, manufacture, sell or commercially apply an invention for a certain period of time. In return for these industrial property rights, the technical details of the inventions must be made publicly accessible via a patent specification.
Patents promote innovation, the exchange of knowledge and technical progress.
The most important institution is the German Patent and Trade Mark Office (DPMA). It is the central authority in the field of industrial property protection in Germany.

DEPATISnet, the database of the German Patent and Trade Mark Office, is available for searching for patent publications from all over the world.
The office's internal electronic document archive is used for this purpose.
The search tool of the European Patent Register (EPO) provides access to all publicly available information on European patents. The European Patent Register is the most comprehensive and up-to-date source of publicly available procedural data on European patent applications at the various stages of the EPO grant procedure and on European patents with unitary effect.
