Logistics is everywhere! Unfortunately, so is waste!
In the world of tomorrow, our products must be transported efficiently from A to B. We need to produce products sustainably and to do this we need to focus more on recycling processes. Costs for logistics and production networks must be kept as low as possible and quality as high as possible. We want to have the products delivered to our doorstep by tomorrow. Customized, of course.
To achieve this, we need innovative graduates who can plan, set up and operate new logistics and production solutions. Digital permitted supplementary materials will support us in these tasks. With us, you will learn how to use digital permitted supplementary materials for planning, controlling and monitoring logistics and production processes and how to use and adapt them efficiently. You will identify any waste, whether in the flow of materials or information, and create solutions (as part of a team) to eliminate the weak points. You will become familiar with efficient project management through the practice-oriented projects in the degree program.
Career prospects
The world is open to you! Thanks to your skills, you know what challenges you will encounter in globalized logistics networks. You have already gained experience of how projects are planned and managed during your studies. You can start your career in any industry. Small, medium-sized and large companies will need your help. Whether baby diapers or rockets, your professional career is product-independent.

Study content in the focus area
Students learn about the different roles in logistics and production, which can represent future areas of work for the students themselves. Case studies and practical examples explain key challenges in the individual areas of production and logistics. In addition, students learn about different methods of problem solving and apply them independently.
Students have an overview of the complexity of coordination services in the context of global value creation networks and recognize that there can be no such thing as "logistics" in the sense of a ubiquitous pattern that can always be applied in the same way, corresponding to the different types and requirements of logistics, transport and traffic.
The module teaches the types and characteristics of different supply chains (logistics chains and networks). You will learn how logistics chains are changing, why these changes are taking place and how logistics chains may develop in the near future. To this end, the module highlights the interdependencies and objectives of those involved in production and logistics chains.
Students should recognize IT as an important factor in the analysis, credits and solution of Economics problems in the different Departments of Economics. They will have an overview of various operational applications of information processing.
Computer-intensive methods are used for problems with high computational requirements. The aim of this module is to apply these methods to specific problems and data sets using the statistical software R. Areas of application include many areas of Industry 4.0, such as smart manufacturing, predictive maintenance, supply chain management and optimized energy management, as well as traditional areas such as market research and marketing.
In this module, students should gain specialist skills in the application and development of digital data processing in organizations.
In this course, students work through all the central elements of a product development process in the special conditions of digital markets and products. They will be able to design meaningful new products themselves, manage product development processes, develop products in the context of a business model, make plans for marketing digital products and assess the protection of intellectual property.
After completing the module, you will be able to plan and coordinate even complex digital projects according to established and standardized procedures. You will be familiar with the project process, standards, modern digital methods/applications and current fields of development.
The class is dedicated to qualifying students to optimize business processes, their analysis, modeling and optimization. In addition to different business models, project management, controlling and investment decisions are central components of the module.
Students learn to mathematically map production processes with the help of graphs and to analyze the processes mathematically. Various algorithms and methods are presented that allow the process sequences to be analyzed more precisely and, if necessary, weak points in the processes to be uncovered in order to optimize them in a next step.
The business simulation module enables students to think in a holistic and complex way in the fields of logistics and production. Typical company processes are illustrated in the form of case studies.
Students are able to carry out independent scientific work and present the results in a scientific form. They are able to use modern media, methods and instruments.
