Course content and objectives
The program examines all art historical, archeological, and architectural aspects of cultural monuments. The master’s program in Monument Preservation Management is suited for graduates from bachelor’s programs in Architecture, Art History, an archeological subject, or related disciplines. This joint program offered by Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in Dessau and the Martin Luther University Halle/Wittenberg teaches in-depth knowledge for handling historical structures. Students explore the unique aspects of buildings that are worthy of preservation. They learn about the connections between excavated buildings and existing structures. The master’s program teaches students how to safely handle historical structures, providing a valuable - and so far much too rarely found - additional scientific qualification.
Requirements
Admission requirements are a university degree in architecture, art history, archaeology or comparable courses of study.
Recognized German language certificates for international applicants:
- DSH2
- TestDaF-4xTDN4
- Equivalent language certificates if applicable
Career Opportunities
This expertise opens up highly interesting professional opportunities. In Germany, construction on existing buildings is increasing. In this process, issues related to monument preservation often arise. In construction activities in the districts, cities, foundations, and planning offices, graduates can show and carry out interdisciplinary solutions and possibilities that do justice to the monuments.
