Landscape Architecture (M.A.)

Our program seeks highly qualified applicants who are interested in graduate education in English with a strong focus on sustainability, resilience and future-oriented design practice in landscape architecture.
The application period for the coming winter semester always runs from 15 December to 15 March. You need to apply via Uni-Assist.

Sustainability and Resilience
Sustainability and climate adaptation are the conceptual constants of our planning approach - besides the core competencies of environmental + technical knowledge, aesthetic and social sciences. In tackling the diverse challenges of urban and rural environments, particular emphasis is placed on understanding long-term environmental processes and today's volatile planning contexts. Students develop strategies that respond to uncertainty and risk.

New Technology and AI Tools
Our academic and professional studies are strongly supported by emerging digital tools. Our main courses - the design studios – are accompanied by modules integrating 3D imaging, landscape simulation, GIS-based analysis and a data-driven design processes. We explore artificial intelligence as a methodological extension of critical design thinking: for analysis, visualization, scenario building, risk assessment and the evaluation of complex environmental systems.
We want you students to learn combining technological innovation with sensitivity and ethical responsibility.

Courses such as project management and communication skills will help you prepare for the job market.

The culturally and subject-related heterogeneous background of the students in Landscape Architecture, a team-oriented working method as well as the interdisciplinary and generalist character of the program create a wide range of perspectives and planning approaches. Based on a broad knowledge of concepts, theories and techniques, problem-solving models are developed, compared and examined for their applicability in different cultural and political contexts.
