Free online preliminary course "Mathematics" for first-year students of the Department of Ecotrophology, Agriculture and Landscape Planning (Faculty 1) and all interested parties
Are you about to start your studies at Department 1? Great! A warm welcome: We are delighted that you have decided to study at the Green Department!
Regardless of whether you want to study Agriculture, Ecotrophology, AI Engineering, Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning or Nature Conservation and Landscape Planning in the bachelor's degree program, you will need some basic mathematical knowledge.
In order to refresh your (school) knowledge in the field of "Mathematics" and to enable you to make a successful start to your studies, we have put together a compact preliminary course in "Mathematics" for you.
You can take part in our compact online course free of charge and from the comfort of your own home from September 22-26, 2025. We will cover the following topics:
- Fundamentals of mathematics: elementary arithmetic, arithmetic operations and conversion of terms, fractions and percentages, power and root calculation, logarithms, numbers and quantities, rule of three, solving systems of linear equations
- Functions: Intervals, sums and products, linear functions, quadratic functions, polynomial division, transformation and combination of functions, inverse function, trigonometric functions and radians
- Probability theory and hypothesis testing: probabilities, combinatorics, statistical independence, random variables, expected value, variance and standard deviation, testing hypotheses
- Vector and matrix calculus: Formulas for geometry, vectors, arithmetic operations with vectors, matrices, arithmetic operations with matrices, transposing matrices, inverting matrices, determinants of matrices
- Differential and integral calculus: basics, behavior of differentiable functions, integral calculus
... and by the way, you will get to know YOUR fellow students and YOUR new digital learning tools for your studies even before the actual start of your studies.
