Lending
Our books and data carriers are available for lending to registered users, unless the media are marked as reference collection.
The majority of our media are arranged according to subject group and shelfmark in the open access areas of the libraries. Our literature search engine (discovery service) provides information on the location and borrowability of literature, which can be found in the detailed display for each hit.
The prerequisites for borrowing our media are an active library account and a student or library card.
It is possible to have the desired media checked out at the circulation desk during service hours. Alternatively, a self-checkout machine is available at each location for independent use, which can be operated in various languages of instruction and can continue to be used after the end of service hours. A maximum of 20 books can be borrowed.
We are happy to deposit the literature you need in our media boxes, which can be used around the clock for collection.
Borrowed media can be conveniently renewed in the user account (access via Discovery Service) or the UniNow app(Playstore & App Store). The library number and password are required for this.
The loan period for printed media is 29 days and can be extended up to 8 times. Magazines and marked media may not generally be borrowed.
Important: Media cannot be renewed if
- the loan period has been exceeded
- they have already been renewed 8 times
- the medium is reserved.
Ordering
It is possible to order literature from another location to the desired campus library. If titles are not available, an acquisition proposal can be submitted or an interlibrary loan can be checked.
The following media must be requested from us in person/by telephone/by e-mail or via our contact form:
- Printed theses and those on data carriers
- Journals from an older year
- Media with the suffix "SR" (Schriftenreihe) at the beginning of the shelfmark
These are items from the stacks which our staff will make available for collection at the counter as soon as possible.
Reservations
If a title you need is on loan, you can place a hold on it. This is possible in the Discovery Service, in the OPAC and through the library team.
The staff at the counters will be happy to help.
Please note: Reservations cannot be made via the UniNow app!
Media that are to be returned can be handed in at the circulation desks and the self-checkout desks. Outside opening hours, items can be returned via our book containers.
After returning media via the book containers, we will confirm the return by e-mail.
