Study Computer Science and Languages as a cooperative or career-integrated program - here’s how it works!
Depending on the degree program, we offer different levels of support for cooperative or career-integrated programs at the Department of Computer Science and Languages. Here you can find out more about our offers.
At our department at Anhalt University, we offer practice-integrating cooperative degree programs as an organizational form. This means that you apply to one of our practice partners or bring your company with you and we coordinate or organize your course of studies according to your needs in cooperation with the company. Usually, you will work in the company during the lecture-free period. However, other time models are also possible in consultation with the department and the respective company.
It is important to start looking for a practice partner early on. A lead time of about one year can be expected. At the bottom of this page you will find our practice partners, companies we have worked with in the past. If you yourself have found a company that is interested in your dual training, or if you are already employed, please feel free to contact us.
Prof. Dr. Mike Scherfner is your contact for cooperative and career-integrated degree programs at the Department of Computer Science & Languages.
Why a cooperative degree program?
- high practical and application relevance
- practical projects can be directly related to the tasks of the company
- high work motivation
- high rate of graduation within the standard period of study
- compensation
- mentoring from within the company
- Bachelor's or Master's thesis topics provided by the employer
- high likelihood of getting hired after graduating
For these Bachelor's degree programs, we offer cooperative or career-integrated degree programs:
Would you like to start your career straight away and still obtain a degree? Are you already a student and have been given a great opportunity to start your career, but would like to successfully complete your studies? Are you already working and would like to gain further qualifications? Then a dual or part-time degree course with us could be the right thing for you. All Bachelor's degree programs offered by our Department can also be studied on a dual (cooperative) practice-integrated basis, while the Master's degree programs can be studied on a dual (career-integrated) basis.
As a dual student, you take part in regular classes and work in a company - especially during lecture and exam-free periods. In order to meet the special challenges of a practice-integrated dual or part-time degree course, we support you with individual study planning. This includes in particular the coordination with your professional activity (e.g. in the weekly timetable or through suitable part-time models) and the recognition of professional tasks as coursework. To this end, a cooperation agreement is concluded between the company and the university to ensure optimal support. Two mentors, one from the company and one from the Department, will support you in organizing your studies. Further flexibility is provided by offering individual modules as online or block courses.
If you would like to take up a practice-integrated dual or part-time degree course with us, you should consider the following steps:
- Contact Prof. Dr. Mike Scherfner, Degree Program Advisor for dual and part-time studies. Dual and part-time study programs are usually very individual. Prof. Scherfner will work with you to find the right study model for your situation and support and advise you accordingly.
- Apply to our university for the appropriate study place. You can find all information about the online application on the pages of the Student Service Center.
- If you are not yet working in a company, look for a company where you would like to work alongside your studies. Possible contacts could be our cooperation partners. However, we are also happy to work with other companies.
- Discuss the necessary steps for concluding the cooperation agreement with the Degree Program Advisor for the practice-integrated / work-integrated degree program.
Now it's your turn! When will we discuss with you how you can successfully combine work and study?
By the way: Our instructors enjoy working with students who are in employment. Theory and practice are also a good combination in computer science.
Do you want to offer your employees attractive training opportunities and retain them in your company in the long term? Do you want to get good students interested in your company from the lab and attract them with an attractive offer? Then we should talk to each other, because all degree programs offered by the Department of Computer Science and Languages can also be studied on a dual (practice-integrated or career-integrated) basis.
Of course, as an employer you have to make compromises on the "dual track". This is your investment in securing your future supply of specialists and managers. Our many years of experience have shown that a practice- or career-integrated degree course can be designed in such a way that employers and students benefit equally. As a university, we offer you a high degree of flexibility - without compromising the quality of our training.
The university and employer sign a cooperation agreement for each dual student, which ensures that the student receives the best possible support. A mentor is appointed on the university side and one on the employer side, so that the dual student has a specific and responsible contact person on both sides.
Now it's your turn! We will also be happy to discuss with you how we can work together to ensure the supply of specialists and managers for your company in the coming years. By the way: Our lecturers enjoy working with professional students. They generally stand out due to their high level of personal motivation, strong work ethic and self-discipline and are positive role models for the other students.
Our cooperation partners for cooperative and career-integrated programs
We are already conducting cooperative or career-integrated programs with the following companies: However, this does not guarantee a commitment on the part of the company for a place in the cooperative program. Please contact the practice partner of your choice as early as possible to find out if and how a cooperative degree program can be completed.
