Study Computer Science and Languages as a cooperative or career-integrated program - here’s how it works!

Depending on the degree program, we offer different levels of support for cooperative or career-integrated programs at the Department of Computer Science and Languages. Here you can find out more about our offers.

At our department at Anhalt University, we offer practice-integrating cooperative degree programs as an organizational form. This means that you apply to one of our practice partners or bring your company with you and we coordinate or organize your course of studies according to your needs in cooperation with the company. Usually, you will work in the company during the lecture-free period. However, other time models are also possible in consultation with the department and the respective company.

It is important to start looking for a practice partner early on. A lead time of about one year can be expected. At the bottom of this page you will find our practice partners, companies we have worked with in the past. If you yourself have found a company that is interested in your dual training, or if you are already employed, please feel free to contact us.

Prof. Dr. Mike Scherfner is your contact for cooperative and career-integrated degree programs at the Department of Computer Science & Languages.

For these Bachelor's or Master's degree programs, we offer cooperative or career-integrated degree programs:

Do you want to start your career right away and still get a degree? Are you already a student and have been offered a great opportunity to start your career, but still want to complete your studies successfully? Are you already employed and looking to improve your skills? Then a cooperative or career-integrated degree program with us might be right for you. All Bachelor's degree programs offered by our department can also be studied on a practice-integrated (cooperative) basis, and the Master's degree programs can be studied on a career-integrated basis.

As a student of this program, you will attend classes and work in the company – especially during non-teaching and non-examination periods. To meet the unique challenges of a cooperative or career-integrated degree program, we help you design an individualized curriculum. This includes, in particular, the coordination with professional activities (e.g. in weekly planning or through suitable part-time models) and the recognition of professional tasks as study credits. To ensure optimal support, a cooperation agreement is signed between the company and the university. Two mentors, one from the company and one from the department, will help you design your studies. For added flexibility, we offer individual modules as online or block courses.

If you are interested in starting a cooperative or career-integrated degree program with us, you should consider the following steps:

  1. Contact Prof. Dr. Mike Scherfner, Degree Program Advisor for cooperative and career-integrated degree programs.Cooperative and career-integrated degree programs are usually very individual.Prof. Scherfner will work with you to find the right study model for your situation and provide you with the appropriate support and advice.
  2. Apply to our university for the appropriate degree program. You can find all information about the online application on the website of the Student Service Center.
  3. If you are not already working for a company, find a company where you would like to work while you study. Possible contacts can be our cooperation partners .However, we are also happy to work with other companies.
  4. Discuss the steps necessary to complete the cooperative agreement with the Degree Program Advisor for cooperative and career-integrated programs.

Now it's your turn! When would you like to talk to us about how to successfully combine working and studying?
By the way: Our faculty members enjoy working with employed students. Theory and practice also go well hand in hand in Computer Science.

Do you want to offer your employees attractive opportunities to learn and grow and keep them loyal to you? Do you want to keep good students interested in your company during their internship and attract them with an exciting offer? Then you should talk to us, because all the programs offered by the Department of Computer Science and Languages can also be studied as cooperative or career-integrated programs.

Of course, as an employer, you have to make compromises when offering a cooperative program. This is your investment in securing your future professional and leadership needs. Our experience over the years has shown that a practice- or career-integrated program can be designed to benefit both the employer and the student. As a university, we offer you a high degree of flexibility without compromising the quality of our education.

For each student, the university and the employer sign a cooperation agreement to ensure that the student receives the best possible support. A mentor is appointed on both the university and employer sides, so that the dual student has a specific and responsible contact person on each end.

Now it's your turn! We would also be happy to discuss with you how we can work together to ensure your company's supply of professionals and managers for years to come. By the way: Our faculty members enjoy working with employed students. They usually stand out due to their high personal motivation, strong work ethic and self-discipline, and are positive role models for other students.
