Literature search engine and catalogues
We recommend the university library's literature search engine Discovery service as a universal search entry point. Here you can search for printed holdings, licensed electronic media and open access publications. Numerous filter and faceting options allow you to specify and personalize your search queries. Our Online catalogue (OPAC) is still available for researching our local library holdings.
To access our electronic resources off campus, you need to set up remote access.
Catalogs
The library catalog OPAC(Online Public Access Catalog) lists the library's entire collection of printed and digital monographs and journals. The "advanced search" allows you to enter several criteria and keywords as well as to narrow down the media type. Printed media are arranged on the shelves according to subject group (notation) and shelf mark and can be borrowed unless they are marked as reference holdings. It is possible to order literature from another location to the desired campus library. If titles are not available, an acquisition proposal can be submitted or an interlibrary loan can be examined.
The Common Union Catalog(GVK) is a union database that provides the relevant materials for interlibrary loan and direct delivery services. It comprises over 72.6 million titles with more than 183.0 million holdings records from over 1,000 libraries. You can find journal references from all subito delivery libraries in Germany and Austria as well as other German university libraries. Titles and articles that are not in our collection can be obtained via interlibrary loan from the GVK. Further information on interlibrary loan is summarized here.
The Karlsruhe Virtual Catalog (KVK) is a meta-catalog for more than one hundred million books and journals from library and book trade catalogs worldwide.
OCLC Worldcat is the world's largest bibliographic database, containing catalogs from thousands of OCLC (Online Computer Library Center) libraries.
The Electronic Journals Library ( EZB) is a service for the effective use of scientific full-text journals on the Internet. E-journals from all disciplines are listed in the EZB. It comprises 94,384 titles, of which 19,846 are purely online journals. We also offer access to the full texts of our licensed resources in the campus network and via remote access. Traffic light symbols indicate whether the desired journal is freely available, licensed or not accessible. It also shows which volumes are available online. Articles and essays can usually be searched for directly on the pages of the e-journals.
Remote Access
In order to access the library's digital resources off campus, remote access must be set up. This requires the proxy configuration of the network settings.
