Physical Chemistry (direct and distance learning)
Basic subject for all FB 7 students: Introduction to the world of physical chemistry:
Molecular interactions, pure substances and phase diagrams, dilute solutions, mixtures and separation processes, transport properties (viscosity, diffusion, osmosis), surface phenomena / adsorption and kinetics
Pharmaceutical Physical Chemistry
Special subject for Pharmaceutical Engineering: Chemical thermodynamics and equilibria of active ingredients in solution and distribution, colloids and their applications in modern pharmacy
Training course in kinetics for all degree programs
Training in the calculation of rate constants, activation energies and reaction mechanisms (course without credit - for practice only!)
Pharmaceutical Chemistry
Subfield of Pharmaceutical Fundamentals: Properties and application of active pharmaceutical ingredients divided into therapeutic groups (nervous system, hormones, cardiovascular system, chemotherapeutics) Principles of action, stereochemistry, heterocycles and current problems and trends in medicinal chemistry
Sensor and analytical measurement technology
Area of analytics that deals exclusively with process analytics in online or inline operation: Electroanalytical, optical, acoustic methods, multisensors, soft sensors, automatic analysis systems and multivariate data analysis.
Engineering ethics
A compulsory elective module that sheds light on the special responsibility of engineers, including their opportunities to act in a socially conscious, sustainable and ethical manner. And this in the areas of life sciences engineering. Impact ethics with its tools of risk analysis, technology assessment, safety and hazard prevention and communication become the focal point of the ethical actions of a modern engineer.
Engineers and society
6 Proseminars on ethics within the lecture series Life Science Engineering
(Earth-Space-Human / Responsibility of the engineer / Ethics for engineers / Technology and consequences (1-2) / Concept of progress)
Process control and analytics (Master's course together with St. Sommer)
Part of process analytics (Process Analytical Technology / PAT in gas phase / PAT in liquid and mixed phases / PAT on solids / Multivariate process analysis / Soft sensors and multisensors)
Ethics of Life Sciences
An elective modules in the International Master Molecular Biotechnology
Medical Ethics
A block seminar in the distance learning program Physician Assistance
