New Exhibition by Werner Georges at the Köthen University Library
From October 8, 2026, through March 10, 2027, the Köthen University Library will host an exhibition featuring floral and blossom motifs by artist Werner Georges. His works—inspired by observations of nature in the region and during his travels—provide a colorful contrast to the orderly bookshelves. The paintings are intended to serve as a relaxing focal point for learners, students, and staff, as well as for visitors to the exhibition.
Werner Georges, former head of the Köthen City Planning Office, is exhibiting in Bibliotheken (Building 17 - Dessau) at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences for the third time. The opening will take place on October 8, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. with a musical matinee (Room 216, Bernburger Str. 55). The closing event will be organized by the Senior College on March 10, 2027.
The exhibition at the University Library will remain on view at the Köthen Campus Library through March 10, 2027.
Hours: Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Saturday 9:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Short Biography of the Artist
*Werner Georges is from Reppichau (Anhalt) and has been interested in landscapes, nature, and artistic forms of expression since childhood. After completing his studies in architecture, he worked for many years as an urban planner, including at the office of the city architect in Dessau and later at the Bauhaus (Building 10 - Dessau). From 1990 to 2014, he headed the urban planning department in Köthen (Anhalt) before devoting himself more fully to painting. International experiences—such as a work assignment in Vietnam—also shaped his artistic development. His works arise from experiences, impressions, and a keen eye for changes in the environment. He finds many of his subjects in the immediate vicinity of his home in Dessau-Mosigkau.
