Rong Huang is studying Interactive Media at the Department of Computer Science and Languages in her 3rd semester. In a short interview, she tells us what motivated her to study Interactive Media and what has been the most exciting part of her studies since then.
What made you want to study Interactive Media?
I am a passionate programmer and love application development. I find the applications of interaction technology very important in the development process. My desire is to develop an application system that people love and want to use frequently. To do that, you need a better user experience when interacting with an application. I chose this degree program to achieve my goal.
What makes studying at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences so attractive to you?
As a foreign student, I spent a year learning German at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences. The university is my first stop in Germany, so I feel very special here. There are not many universities that offer a degree in Interactive Media. Anhalt University of Applied Sciences is one of them. All the professors are very nice. They give us a lot of support on our way into the professional world. That's why I like studying here.
What has been the most exciting thing you've experienced during your studies so far?
Participating in the "intoMINT 4.0" educational app project. A very meaningful project in the STEM world: math, computer science, natural sciences and technology. In the app, students from the 8th grade onwards have the opportunity to consolidate their own knowledge from school with the help of small experiments and discover suitable professions. Overall, there are many interesting functions in the app, all of which are free of charge. My job as a student assistant was to prepare the offers for the computer science section. And this semester I'm doing the software testing. I test the applications and optimize them, especially in terms of user-friendliness. I can combine it with my specialist knowledge. It's exciting to see how the project grows.
And after your studies: what happens next?
Actually, I would like to go back to China after my studies because I would like to be with my family. However, there are better working conditions in Germany. If there is a good offer for me, I would also stay here for two to three years. :)
When you're not in the lecture hall, where can you be found in your free time on campus or in the surrounding area?
If I don't have a course, I like to be in the library - because I have very fast internet there. I also like to cook. If you don't mind, we can have a Chinese meal together.
