Explanations

Call for applications

The professorship has been advertised. As a rule, interested candidates now have four weeks to apply. You can read when and where the position was published at the end of each advertisement text on the homepage.

Selection of applicants

In its first meeting, but at least before it discusses the applications received, the Appointment Committee determines the selection criteria applicable to the respective appointment procedure from the minimum requirements of the HSG LSA according to § 35 and the text of the advertisement. The application documents are reviewed. The appointment committee decides on the candidates to be invited. An individual synopsis is prepared for each appointment procedure. All candidates who meet the legal and subject-specific requirements must be invited.

Appointment presentations

If you have met the selection criteria, you will be invited to give a public lecture (a trial lecture). Following the lecture, you will have a personal interview with the appointment committee.

Assessment

Following the presentations and selection interviews, the appointment committee draws up a provisional appointment list. The (up to) three best applicants are initially placed on this list without ranking. In order to assess the practical, academic and pedagogical suitability of these shortlisted applicants, two comparative expert opinions are obtained from professors or other experts in the field of appointment who may not be members of the university. The expert opinions should enable an objective assessment of the applicants.

Committee phase

The list of three candidates is then finalized and the order of the list is determined by resolution of the appointment committee. This is followed by a further committee phase. The procedure is reviewed once again by the extended Department Executive Committee, the examiner prepares an examiner's report and a resolution is passed by the Senate.

Issue of call

Only when all points of the procedure have been completed can the appointment be made by the President. The appointment negotiations then take place.

Acceptance of appointment

Finally, the candidate accepts the appointment in writing before the Department of Human Resources prepares all the documents required for the appointment.
