Course content and objectives

This integrated design program combines the three fields communication design (2D), product design (3D), and media design (4D). Depending on their interests, students plan individual specializations: They get to know how to handle many types of design tools - graphic, typographical, form design, photographic, cinematic, audio, and interactive. With various media, they practice using digital and technological tools - combined and coordinated, that is, integrated.

This state-of-the-art design program gives answers to today’s coordinated work of all types of design. Extensive design skills are taught. The objective is clear: Both during the Integrated Design program as well as in professional life, problem-solving skills are in demand. Designers can work as freelancers or as employees in advertising companies, production companies, publishers, businesses, and in private or public institutions. Personality, creativity, communication skills, the ability to work in a team, and decision-making competence are essential for professional success. The Dessau program model prepares students for many different requirements and offers sustainable and long-term expert competence. This provides a starting point that allows them to react flexibly to future developments in all design professions.
