The Degree Program
This degree program qualifies students to act in positions of responsibility at the interface between medicine and nutrition science. Students will also learn how to work scientifically, which will enable them to put new scientific findings into practice and to develop successful nutrition strategies. The career-integrated degree program specializes and professionalizes important players in this promising field. It is designed to be application-oriented and builds on your first university degree as well as the experience and knowledge you have gained during your time in practice.

The degree program has a modular structure. A module is a content-related teaching and learning section that must be completed through assessed work or other verifiable coursework. In addition to the compulsory modules, elective modules with a certain number of credits must be completed. The number of credits depends on the average workload to be completed by the student for the respective module. One credit according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) corresponds to a workload of 30 hours. The total workload of a module includes time spent independently studying, participation in consultations (face-to-face events or online seminars), preparation for examinations and the completion of any examination prerequisites, assessed work and labs.
The normal program length is five semesters. In four terms, you complete a total of 17 compulsory modules and three elective modules, which you select from the pool of elective modules. The fifth semester is available for you to write and defend your Master's thesis.
You will take the compulsory and elective modules in accordance with the study plan (Annex 4 of the study and examination regulations, subject-specific provisions). The curriculum provides for 4-5 modules per semester. On average, you will earn 20 to 30 ECTS per semester. However, it is possible to adapt the curriculum individually, e.g. as part of the flexible study model. For more information, please contact the Degree Program Coordinator.

The degree program is a career-integrated program that offers flexible learning times and is therefore a good fit with your professional life.
You will be provided with digital documents for your studies (online via the Moodle learning platform), which will enable you to carry out your time spent independently studying in a structured and guided manner and prepare yourself optimally for the examinations. In addition, consultations take place. Here you have the opportunity to exchange ideas with instructors and other students, ask questions and consolidate and deepen your knowledge.
Depending on the module, 12 to 16 consultation hours per module are planned in the curriculum. The consultations are offered either as an online seminar and/or as a face-to-face event on site (Bernburg), with online seminars taking place predominantly, supplemented by occasional face-to-face seminars. The online seminars take place in the evening or on Saturdays, while the on-site events are held at the weekend (Friday/Saturday). The consultation dates are published in good time for each semester via the schedule on the Moodle learning platform.
Throughout your studies, you will receive individual support from the Degree Program Coordinator. They are your first point of contact for all non-subject-related questions and coordinate the cooperation between instructors and students. The lecturers responsible for the individual modules provide content-related support.
All modules conclude with an examination in the form of digital written and oral examinations, term papers, supporting documents and presentations. The examinations are usually taken at the end of each semester during the examination week. The exact examination dates are published in good time via the examination schedule.
The classes and the corresponding examinations are offered on an annual basis. Students can begin their studies in the summer and winter semesters, starting on April 1 and October 1 of each year respectively
You have the option of completing the part-time master's degree program in Nutrition Therapy at a flexible time. Instead of the usual 4 modules per semester, you take an individually determined number of modules and complete them regularly during the examination week.

You have the option of taking individual modules without enrolling and, if you wish, you can also take the examinations. The costs are calculated individually per module. Further information can be found in our fee regulations. We also offer the "Nutritional Psychology" module course.
The time spent independently studying, which is guided by the learning materials, is supplemented by consultations (online seminars and/or face-to-face events), with online seminars taking place predominantly, supplemented by occasional face-to-face seminars. The consultations are spread throughout the semester. The dates will be announced in good time via the timetable so that you can fit them in with your professional commitments.
Attendance at the individual consultations is generally not compulsory. However, we recommend attending, as questions are clarified and knowledge is consolidated and deepened in personal exchanges between students and lecturers. In addition, the application of the specialist knowledge learned is part of many consultations and represents an enrichment beyond the script. The online seminars are usually recorded and made available via the Moodle learning platform in compliance with data protection regulations.
The degree program mainly offers digital examinations, so your presence on campus is not usually required.
You have the option of applying for one or more semesters of leave. The application for leave of absence must be submitted to the Student Service Center (SSC) by 15.02. (summer semester) or 15.08. (winter semester) at the latest. Tuition fees are waived during a semester of leave. Furthermore, no examinations or other coursework may be taken during a semester of leave. Exceptions to this rule are retake examinations.
Costs are charged on a semester-by-semester basis for career-integrated programs at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences.
You can deduct the expenses for a continuing education course as income-related expenses in your tax return. Among other things, you can claim the fees for your studies, work equipment and travel expenses.
