Our dual study options in the full-time program
All Bachelor's and Master's degree programs listed below can be studied on a dual basis. This requires an internship contract with a company. If you have any questions, please get in touch with the contact persons listed here.
Important information on the dual study options
First you apply directly to a practice partner (ideally one year before the start of your studies). Once an internship contract has been concluded, a regular application (i.e. like any other prospective student) is submitted to Anhalt University of Applied Sciences by the respective application deadline (see degree program pages). The internship contract can also be submitted/uploaded later in the application process, but no later than approx. 2 weeks before the start of the degree program.
It is also possible to switch from the regular full-time program to the dual study option - with a corresponding internship contract - within the first two semesters.
In the case of a dual study option in the Bachelor's degree program, practical phases of approx. 6 to 7 weeks are carried out at the practice partners from the 1st to the 6th semester and in the Master's degree program in the 1st & 2nd semester during the lecture-free period (semester break). Practical reports can be written, which are recognized as elective modules and/or as project work or research projects or company internships under certain prerequisites.
The entire 7th semester of the Bachelor's degree program is spent at the practice partner for the internship and the preparation of the thesis.
In the master's degree programs, the entire 3rd semester is spent with the practice partner to complete the thesis.
During the semester, dual students attend regular lectures, practical courses and labs. During the examination periods, students are usually released from work by the practice partner.

Alternatively, you can also seek advice from the specified contact persons for the dual degree program or the Degree Program Advisors for the relevant degree programs regarding possible practice partners, or look for a company independently according to the following parameters:

The company is active in the relevant sector (e.g. Biotechnology, Food Technology, etc.).

The company can provide a supervisor with a university degree for the dual student.

The company accepts the form of dual studies at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences within the framework of a cooperation agreement (see explanations below).
Most of our practice partners are located in the immediate vicinity of Köthen (max. 1h drive). Basically, you have to find your own accommodation, i.e. you should have an apartment in Köthen for your studies and then commute to the practical phases. If the journey is too far, you would have to find a second home at your own expense. The internship company may be able to provide organizational and financial support, but they are not obliged to do so.
Remuneration varies greatly from company to company, as they are not obliged to pay the intern. However, most practice partners base their remuneration on that of trainees and also pay during the study phases at the university (i.e. when you are not working for the practice partner).
Since the information on the remuneration of the individual practice partners changes discontinuously, it is advisable to ask the specific practice partner in order to obtain reliable information.
As cheap accommodation is relatively easy to find in Köthen, the remuneration is usually sufficient to cover running costs.

I wanted to do a dual study program, not so much for the money, but mainly to gain the deepest possible insight into professional life. My conclusion: a dual study program is the most efficient way to achieve this goal.
