Working as a Student Assistant or Tutor

Some students work as research assistants (colloquially known as "Hiwi") at the university. They may be responsible for supervision in the library, leading tutorials, or conducting literature research for professors. Hiwi positions are a good complement to studies. Those interested should inquire about open positions at their department's office and pay attention to notices posted around the university.
The Student Services Center, the library, or the International Office often also look for motivated students.
Work as a Hiwi is generally not counted towards the 140-day restriction of the residence permit when performed as part of university activities.
