If a mandatory internship is required as part of your program sequence, it does not count toward the 140-day rule. Your internship host company is not required to pay you.
If your internship is voluntary, the company is required to pay you the statutory minimum wage. In addition, a voluntary internship counts towards your total work hours under the 140-day rule.

The “Partners of Tomorrow” program focuses on building partnerships between young international professionals and small and medium-sized enterprises in Saxony-Anhalt. The program is primarily aimed at companies that have concrete plans regarding their international business activities and
•
pursue international business interests• successfully
position their innovative products in foreign markets•
expand existing business contacts• and seek to establish new business partnerships and supplier relationships.
Motivated international students and graduates, preferably from the fields of engineering and business, are placed in subject-specific labs at participating companies. In doing so, they support the companies in their international positioning and in tapping into new markets.
The international young professionals
• learn about German corporate culture and gain practical
experience• become familiar with the innovative and technological potential of their host companies•
become ambassadors for their host companies and their products•
gain valuable insights for their studies or
theses• improve their career prospects and opportunities after completing their studies in Germany.
The aspiring young professionals put their technical, linguistic, and intercultural skills to the test alongside their contacts at the participating companies in a collaborative learning process. In the process, all participants gain a comprehensive understanding of each other’s cultures.
