Overview
Future engineering work will rely even more heavily on digital processes. Virtual technologies (virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality) offer opportunities to experience products developed in digital processes at an early stage and to validate them as prototypes. At the same time, the increased use of virtual technologies in the consumer sector is making them more widely available to society.
Therefore, the research focus of Engineering Informatics at the HS-Anhalt is on the following topics:
Supporting engineering processes through virtual technologies
Simultaneous multimodal collaboration in mixed-virtual environments (AR + VR + MR / xR)
Application of new augmented and virtual reality technologies in the consumer sector
In addition, the application of AR/VR/xR in teaching plays a key role. In particular, the question of how the choice of a specific xR platform influences learning success is to be researched.
