Are you about to complete your doctorate and unsure whether to stay in academia? Are you looking for support in planning your career? Our career counseling service offers you personalized and confidential guidance as you make your decision.
The goal of the counseling is to support you in deciding on the next steps in your professional path and to help you actively shape your own career plan. We use various methods in a dialogue-based format, which allow you to reflect on your experiences and goals and actively tackle your career planning.
We offer our career counseling in a secure, distraction-free environment. Sessions can be conducted both online and in person. The counseling process begins with a 15-minute introductory meeting to clarify your personal concerns. This is followed by up to four counseling sessions, each lasting 60 minutes. You decide for yourself on the scope and continuation of the career counseling. All content is treated as strictly confidential.
The career counseling is provided by Sandra Dietzel (Merseburg University of Applied Sciences), Katja Czech (Anhalt University of Applied Sciences), and Dr. Christiane Hedtmann (Anhalt University of Applied Sciences) for all doctoral students at the universities of applied sciences in Saxony-Anhalt. Are you sitting in front of a blank page and can’t seem to get started? Are you struggling with your research question? Do you read a lot but then forget some of what you’ve read? Can’t you find any structure in your text? Or would you simply like to talk to someone about your writing project in a relaxed setting? Come to the Peer Writing Consultation for any questions you have about academic writing! Each session lasts about 45 minutes, during which a trained writing coach will provide you with non-hierarchical and non-directive support to help you help yourself—for example, by reflecting on your work process, generating ideas, trying out writing methods and strategies, setting goals, and receiving feedback on specific text passages. Throughout the session, you are and remain the expert on your text—the writing coach does not need to be a subject-matter expert.

About the advisor: Josephin Winkler is a trained peer tutor in academic writing and is pursuing her Ph.D. at the University of Halle-Wittenberg.
Feeling frustrated with your doctorate? There are times during your doctorate that can be difficult or unsettling. For example, you might struggle with self-management and time management, or you might face challenges with your doctorate advising. To help you gain clarity, GradNet offers you the opportunity to address your personal concerns in one-on-one coaching sessions—confidentially and with a focus on finding solutions. This allows you to reflect on your resources, strengths, and obstacles and find concrete ways to tackle your challenges.

The "weiter denken" campaign gives a comprehensive impression of the opportunities and prospects of a professorship at the UAS in Saxony-Anhalt.
